Chi Tau Epsilon Honor Society was established at TCU in 1967. Since that time, members of XTE have been leaders in the department and the university, modeling excellence in performance, choreography and BFA dance studies. The members of the Alpha chapter of XTE are BFA candidates in ballet and/or modern dance, and are committed to developing our community and promoting dance. They have long focused on service that creates a positive impact even beyond the SCCDance into the TCU and greater Fort Worth/Tarrant County communities. The Alpha Chapter has cultivated a long-standing relationship with AIDS Outreach of Fort Worth and Tarrant County, and annually organizes and produces a benefit concert in support of the AOC. Footnotes - a Q&A facilitated by XTE members at intermission during the DanceTCU concerts - is a popular offering among parents and patrons. XTE also organizes the “Brown Bag Dance” performances held in the Studio Theatre at Erma Lowe Hall. These free presentations, choreographed and performed by SCCDance majors, bring in the campus community for an enjoyable and inspired lunch hour.
Each fall, XTE members welcome incoming majors with activities and outings designed to help them integrate into university life. Each spring, the members organize a banquet for the entire SCCDance during which all seniors are recognized for their accomplishments and new officers and members are announced.
